By way of introduction I’ve been researching educational technology since 1999 looking at how technology is used and can help education for students from K12 to adult distance education. I have a particular interest in how collaborative technologies particularly what we know as Web 2.0 technologies can be used for education, but also the much wider issues surrounding students use of the internet, such as safety, personalised learning, self-regulated-learning and learning how to learn or meta-cognition (being aware of how you are thinking).

However, at the heart of this is a balance between an enthusiasm for the technology and a pragmatic attitude. Technology doesn’t always work.
